Fume Hood atau sering di sebut orang sebagai lemari Asam adalah media kerja dan sekaligus media penyimpanan bahan kimia yang berbahaya bagi manusia, Fume Hood harus mempunyai beberapa bagian penting diantaranya:
- Sash : yaitu Pintu pengaman Fume Hood yang dapat di tarik (naik dan turun) umumnya terbuat dari bahan Kaca atau Acrylic.
- Lampu, Berfungsi sebagai penerangan di dalam area kerja Fume Hood.
- Top Table Fume Hood; Bagian inilah yang menentukan kualitas dari sebuah Fume Hood, sebelum melakukan pembelian Fume Hood, perlu anda pertanyakan material dari table top, Fume Hood yang bagus adalah yang menggunakan table top dengan material Stainless Steel, atau Epoxy resin, bahan dari table top dari Fume Hood akan mempengaruhi harga. ada beberapa jenis table top Fume Hood yaitu: Melamine, Ceramic, Stainless Steel, Phenolic resin, dan Epoxy resin
- Sink, yaitu tempat atau wadah pencucian, umumnya terbuat dari material ceramic .atau resin.
- Faucet
- Blower adalah pompa hisap yang menyerap evaporasi dari bahan kimia yang disalurkan ke pembuangan berikutnya. (Scrubber)
- Base Cabinet, berada di bagian bawah Fume Hood, namun ada juga Fume Hood yang model Desktop, tanpa ada Base Cabinet
- Controller: Menggunakan Controller PID Controller, untuk melihat kecerapat daya hisap udara oleh Fume Hood.
- Ducting, adalah ekstension untuk pemasangan saluran pembuaangan ke wadah berikutnya.
Dalam teknology Peralatan Laboratorium, Fume Hood merupakan alat yang sangat vital, baik pengujian secara Kimia, Biology, Fisika maupun Microbiology, dan saat ini teknology peralatan Fume Hood bahkan sudah ada yang model touch screen
